In the second half of the eighteenth century, the blossoming new printmaking technique—aquatint—vastly expanded potentialities for creating and disseminating photographs. Most of the works on this exhibition have by no means been on public view. Together, the Hanover and Berlin-based artists Thomas Granseuer and Tomislav Topic represent Quintessenz.
